While it is widely believed that the average dog needs 30 minutes of exercise each day, individual needs vary. This is why we offer many different options to suit a variety of budgets and activity needs. Simply taking your dogs for a walk in the evening does little to drain their energy unless that walk is challenging enough.

The best and healthiest exercise program is tailored specifically for the individual dog. The combination of age, breed, energy level, fitness level and size determines how much exercise is appropriate.

While we offer traditional dog walking, we recommend treadmill workouts as being superior because we are better able to adjust the workout to fit the dog, and it costs about the same.

Some advantages that treadmills have over traditional walking are:

Consistency, duration and intensity are the components to a healthy exercise program. Traditional dog walking is the most popular type of exercise for dogs but it is not as effective as the treadmill for reaping the benefits listed above. The treadmill is superior for the following reasons:

  • Intensity – on a treadmill the speed and elevation are adjustable resulting in a better cardiovascular activity and making it more effective at promoting health and draining a dog's energy
  • Consistency – rain or shine your dogs won’t miss their workout
  • Lower trainer to dog ratio results in better one on one attention
  • Climate Controlled – exercise is done inside an air conditioned trailer so exposure to the elements is not a factor. For example, heat exhaustion, disease carrying mosquitoes and other bugs etc.
  • Safety – less chance for things to go wrong such as:
    • Dog fights
    • Breaking leash and getting lost or hit by a car
    • Sniffing or licking where a sick dog has urinated/defecated
    • Eating some rotten food etc. they come across while walking
    • Getting off leash and becoming lost
